Day 5:
We went
to breakfast around 7:30, and Hadley only ate some yogurt and rice. Rebekah
told us that she didn’t eat really well during transitions, so this didn’t
surprised us any. She laughed and waved at everyone, and let us love and kiss
on her without a fuss. After breakfast
we went back to our rooms and gathered the gifts and paperwork we needed to go
back to the Civil Affairs office. We met Helen down in the lobby at 9:15 a.m.
At the
Civil affairs office we were interviewed by the director. This consisted of
answering her question “are you happy with this child?” and “Will you not
abandon her?” Really? What kind of questions are those? You know what our
answers were…….
Then we
went and met with the notary (who is very important in China). He asked us similar
questions, and more invasive questions like how many kids we have? How much
money do you make? Why you want more kids? Then he asked me if I had time for
more kids, I minded my manners and answered with a force smile on my face…….
After
that we were done with the official adoption paperwork. Now we just have to
gather some more documents throughout the week.
